With over 9 years of experience in application consulting, Dr. Darlene believes that with the right strategy, any student can achieve their dreams of becoming a doctor. She is specialized in brainstorming, personal statement and secondary essay editing, and medical school reapplications. As an BS/MD and medical school interview expert, she utilizes her own strategies to train students through effective answer structures and personalized feedback. Dr. Darlene attributes her strong track record of BS/MD and medical school acceptances to personally learning about her students and framing their applications to their strengths.
Using her first-hand experience and years of successful guidance for BS/MD and medical school admissions, Darlene uses specific strategies to streamline the application process for her students and effectively frame stronger applications. Having broad experience in different fields including music, dance, clinical/ biomedical/ biotech research, and entrepreneurship, she uses her diverse background to mentor prospective medical students in crafting a resume and passion projects that stands out the admissions cycle. Darlene is experienced in BS/MD, allopathic and osteopathic medical schools, and residency applications. She has worked with students of all backgrounds, including students with special needs.

Throughout her college career, Dr. Darlene has interned at competitive programs at The Scripps Research Institute, UC San Diego Health, and in biotechnology entrepreneurship. Her research extends in fields of circadian rhythms, biomedical research in dermatology and immunology, clinical research in radiology, and biotechnology entrepreneurship. During her gap years, she gained clinical experience as a medical assistant before working on a telehealth platform start-up, SkyMD, one of the first existing platforms prior to COVID-19.
Darlene went on to completed her medical degree at Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine. During medical school, she led several research projects and published as first author on multiple publications. Her work has been presented at national conferences, such as American Medical Association Symposium and American Academy of Family Physician FMX. She was also recognized as Burrell College’s Student Research of the Year and AAFP’s Family Medicine Leads Scholarship. She has been inducted to the Gold Humanism Honor Society (GHHS) for her commitment to humanism in medicine and community well-being.
She is currently completing her training as a family medicine resident physician at UCSF Fresno, with an interest in underserved medicine. She has continued to serve the community through a project in which she collaborated with the Fresno Department of Public Health to secure a Narcan Distribution Grant for the City of Sanger. One of her most important projects was leading a hospital-system wide EMR improvement project for newborn care, earning national recognition as a H. Winter Griffith Resident Scholarship recipient from the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine and first place at the UCSF Fresno Quality Improvement forum.
